Welcome to the online home of ScarabNet.

We are an international group of dung beetle taxonomists, ecologists and systematists working together to conserve scarabaeine dung beetles and support their use as an invertebrate focal taxon for biodiversity study and conservation.

Together we are:

  1. Creating comprehensive taxonomic and identification resources

  2. Compiling the Global Taxon Database, the most complete clearinghouse of information on the world’s dung beetle species

  3. Standardizing dung beetle survey and monitoring methods

  4. Coordinating members’ research on key global conservation issues

  5. Conducting conservation assessments on dung beetle species worldwide
